AG German Institute’s Successful Outreach at the 93rd KMTC Graduation
Empowering KMTC Graduates to Elevate Their Careers Globally
On Thursday, December 5th, 2024, the AG German Institute proudly participated in the 93rd graduation ceremony of the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), held at Kasarani stadium grounds. This monumental event brought together over 21,261 graduates, their families, and numerous dignitaries, including Kenya’s Deputy President and the Cabinet Secretary for Health, Dr. Deborah Mulongo. This year’s KMTC graduation theme, “Fit-for-Purpose Health Workforce,” resonated deeply with our mission at AG German Institute: to empower nurses and other healthcare professionals with the skills and opportunities needed to succeed globally.
The AG German Institute was honored to engage thousands of graduates and their families, sensitizing them to the transformative opportunities that come with learning the German language. Germany, renowned for its robust healthcare system and ranked as the world’s third-largest economy, faces a significant shortage of nurses. This presents a golden opportunity for KMTC-trained nurses to elevate their careers by working in German healthcare facilities, where they can assist patients, administer treatments, and contribute meaningfully to the global health sector.
Dr. Deborah Mulongo, in her address, emphasized the importance of exploring international job markets, reaffirming that the Kenyan government supports initiatives such as foreign language training and pre-departure programs to enhance global competitiveness. These sentiments were echoed by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, who encouraged graduates to embrace global opportunities while assuring government support in facilitating employment locally and internationally.
The AG German Institute’s booth was a hive of activity throughout the event. Over 4,000 nurses were sensitized about the opportunities we offer, and more than 500 individuals visited our booth to learn more about enrolling in German language studies. Our dedicated team provided comprehensive information, answered questions, and assisted graduates in understanding the pathway to working in Germany.
With an established track record of success, having placed over 50 KMTC-trained nurses with contracts and employment in German healthcare facilities, we are excited to see this number grow. We are committed to supporting nurses aged up to 42 years in achieving their career aspirations by offering tailored German language courses, cultural orientation, and direct linkages to reputable employers in Germany.
